Discovered during excavations for a canal more than a century ago, the original hull remains were destroyed. However, a model of the vessel was made and is still in the archives of the Museo Storico Navale in Venice. Also, a very complete report was made of the excavation shortly after it was completed and can be seen in the same archives. Nevertheless, many pertinent details are missing and can no longer be interpreted.1
