About two-thirds of this wreck has not been uncovered and remains to be studied when better equipment and methodology become available. It was first excavated in the 1930’s; the hull has since been severely damaged due to construction of a marina overhead. The Jefferson was a 20-gun brig. The original lines drawings and spar plans for the Jefferson still exist. Riders, diagonal frames mounted on the ceiling, were recorded. 1
