These sparse remains were found underground during the excavation of a drainage system near the Tillingham River at Rye, England. Although they were badly damaged by machinery, the author suspected additional remains may still be underground.
Like the Cattewater, Highborn Cay, Molasses Reef, and other wrecks, the Rye A vessel had a keelson that was enlarged to 45.7 cm molded and 51 cm sided dimensions in the area of the mast step; the enlargement was 1.92 m long.
Framing also was reminiscent of various 16th century Iberian hulls; two framing timbers were dovetailed together.
