New page

[[category: Ships]]
The cargo of 600 amphoras has been well recorded and published, but the hull has not as yet been excavated. However, a small opening that gave a view of the hull revealed that it was lead sheathed in an arrangement very similar to that of the Kyrenia ship. Lead sheathing was 1-1.5 mm thick and was separated from the hull by a fabric underlayment. It was attached by closely spaced copper tacks with heads of 1.5 cm diameter and square shafts 3 mm thick and 1.9 cm long.
A wooden toggle similar to those on the Kyrenia ship was also found among the amphoras.
