Often, one-of-a-kind artifacts are not available to be included in scholarly research. Facilities at the Wilder Lab are designed to assist in the accurate reproduction of artifacts for:

  • Scholarly research
  • Museum quality reproductions
  • Computer-driven museum displays
  • Rapidform, Freeform ,and Rhinoceros Models to produce single copy or multiple copy scalable comparative collection artifacts
  • Two piece or multiple piece molds

Using the resources of the Wilder Lab, replicas of fragile encrusted artifacts can be created, to serve as models for designing pre-treatment conservation strategies. Replicas also serve to safeguard information that may be lost during the conservation process.
