UPCOMING CONFERENCES:
SHA 2006:Caravels: What About Them?
     A general survey of the available information about these ancient 
     ships of discovery, as well as interpretation of archaeological 
     evidence and historical documentation. Examination of the various
     lines of evidence researchers can investigate in order to obtain
     a clearer picture of the caravel and its historical significance.

Centre for Portuguese Nautical Studies: Iberian Nautical Treatises and Shipwrights of 
16th and 17th Century Portugal
     An overview of the extant nautical treatises from post-medieval
     Portugal, as well as a discussion about the extraordinary men who
     composed these instructional doctrines. Presentation by George
