Three heart blocks and a few pieces of rope were fond on the port side of the shipwreck, on Trench 4. These particular type of heart blocks - in Portuguese sapatas trincadas - was typical in the late 16th century, to adjust the forestay or the shrouds. Since they were used in pairs it is possible that further excavation will reveal more of these heart blocks. |
