Diving Safety Officer for the Institute for Nautical Archaeology (INA)
M.A. (2012), Ph.D. (2020)

“I learned of NAP in 2005 as a non-traditional undergraduate student, and came into the program after graduation with honors from College of Charleston (2007), with a ten-year plan for completion of a doctoral degree (that was pretty standard at the time!). I had a desire to participate in every project I could manage and have been fortunate enough to have worked in the field with Drs. Bass, Pulak, Carlson, and Hirschfeld, among many other great PIs and project participants, garnering long-term friendships with many along the way. These practical experiences capped a thorough and varied load of courses available through NAP. I cannot fathom a better educational or cultural experience for a student of nautical archaeology, and I am grateful for these opportunities.
Having served as the Diving Safety Supervisor for the Kızılburun project (2009, 2011), the 50th anniversary revisit to Cape Gelidonya (2010), and several coastal surveys, I was hired by the Institute of Nautical Archaeology (2016) as the Diving Safety Officer, a position in which I still proudly serve.”
