In Memoriam: Gregory Cook
1966-2026
The faculty and students of NAP are deeply saddened to learn of the recent death of NAP alumnus Dr. Greg Cook. Greg was a magnetic member of NAP in the 1990s, earning an M.A. in 1997 with a thesis on the Reader’s Point Vessel in St. Anne’s Bay, Jamaica. After NAP Greg earned a Ph.D. at Syracuse University and became a vital member of the Anthropology faculty at the University of West Florida. At UWF Greg served as co-principal investigator of the Emanuel Point II shipwreck excavation and
inspired countless students to become engaged in maritime archaeology. We extend our heartfelt condolences to Greg’s family, friends, and UWF colleagues.
