Several NAP faculty and students are presenting at two different conferences this January: the Archaeological Institute of America (AIA) conference and the Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA) conference.
Archaeological Institute of America (AIA)
- Dr. Cemal Pulak and Dr. Deborah Carlson are panelists for a workshop on A History of the Mediterranean in Six Shipwrecks.
- Dr. Carolyn Kennedy gave a video presentation of Philadelphia Gunboat Research Initiative (PGRI) – A Revitalized Approach to Conservation of American Revolutionary War Artifacts.
- NAP alumni Liz Greene was honored for concluding her term as AIA President for the last three years.
Society for Historical Archaeology (SHA)
- Dr. Christopher Dostal is presenting The Philadelphia Gunboat Research Initiative.
- Dr. Carolyn Kennedy is also presenting at the SHA conference as well. She is presenting Living and Working on Phoenix II: Artifact Distribution and Spatial Organization on an Early 19th-Century Lake Champlain Steamboat and Climate Change and Preservation of Freshwater Shipwrecks: A Convergence Workshop for Lake Champlain alongside Paul W. Gates.
- NAP PhD student, Patrick Boyle, is presenting The World’s Smallest Museum: An Unreal Engine 5 Virtual Reality Museum. He also won the First Place and People’s Choice Award in the documentary video contest.
- Katherine Prince (MS Student) is presenting Paint Preservation and Deterioration of Deep Submergence WWII US Navy Shipwrecks.
- River Rivera (MS Student) is presenting The Viking Age Knarr Revisited: A Study on Cargo Ship Design and Function in the Viking Age.
Recent NAP graduates, Alyssa Carpenter, Megan Crutcher, and Marissa Agerton, and CRL conservator, Karen Martindale, are also presenting at the SHA conference!
