The Nautical Archaeology Program’s annual open house returns Saturday, April 11th!
This year, we are honored to welcome guest speaker Jennifer Jones from the Smithsonian. From 10:30-11:30am, attend a public presentation in the Innovative Learning Classroom Building Room 112, about the Gunboat Philadelphia.
From 12-4pm the Nautical Archaeology Program laboratories will be open to the public. Visitors can learn more about ongoing research and conservation and speak to the archaeologists at work. In the nearby offices of the Institute of Nautical Archaeology (INA), visitors can pick up free offprints and explore the many nautical archaeology book titles published by Texas A&M University Press and on sale at a 30% discount. Guests of all ages are welcome at Shipwreck Weekend! There will be a scavenger hunt, mini excavations, SCUBA gear to try on, 3D scanning, ship models to build and color, and much more!
The Nautical Archaeology Program is located on the first floor of the Anthropology Building, adjacent to Sterling C. Evans Library. We hope to see you April 11th!
