All NAP graduate students are required to complete an internship or participate in archaeological fieldwork. Internships may involve training at a conservation laboratory, maritime museum, or archive. Ideally, experience gained in the field will occur on a survey or excavation sponsored by NAP, CMAC, or INA.
Students should be aware that in-house fieldwork opportunities fluctuate annually, and it is impossible to guarantee that NAP faculty will be leading major projects every year. Similarly, we cannot guarantee that there will be space for every student on a given project, although NAP students are generally given priority when field crews are selected.
