Volunteer and Internship Opportunities

The CRL accepts graduate, undergraduate, and community volunteers at our RELLIS Campus location. Undergraduate and graduate students may choose to earn internship or directed study credits during their time with us.

The number of volunteers we accept varies depending on how many active projects we have at any one time, and the number of staff available to supervise. Volunteer activities may include: artifact documentation (including photography and X-radiography), database entry, artifact conservation, and packing.

Application

There is no written application to volunteer with us. However, all interested individuals must complete an interview with our director, Dr. Chris Dostal. Please send a letter of interest to dostalc@tamu.edu introducing yourself, your educational background, why you are interested in volunteering at the CRL, and what semester you would like to volunteer. We generally begin considering volunteers in November (for Spring semester), March (for Summer semester), and July (for Fall semester).

Requirements

All volunteers must:

  • Be 18 years of age or older.
  • Be able to travel to the CRL. If you do not have access to a car, TAMU Bus Route 47 (RELLIS) travels between TAMU Main Campus and RELLIS.
  • Comply with health and safety protocols, complete any required online health and safety trainings, and an in-person facility walkthrough.
  • Volunteer for a minimum of one 2-hour block of time each week.
